You Won’t Believe What’s Hidden Inside This 1890 Mansion
This is why life felt calmer in the old days

As we wandered through the old town of Pafos, we came across Casa Mespilea quite unexpectedly. From the very first moment, it won us over. Some places simply stay with you long after you leave, and this was certainly one of them.
The greenery, the charming inner courtyard, the mature trees, the soft lighting, and the absolute tranquillity create a setting that is both beautiful and captivating. It is the kind of place that naturally slows you down without you even realising it.

Originally built as a family mansion in 1890 by the current owners’ great-great-grandfather, the property was lovingly restored in 2018 and transformed into a unique boutique hotel. Today, it beautifully combines its rich history with modern comfort and genuine hospitality.

The evening was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our stay. Dining in the courtyard felt almost cinematic: quiet conversations, the gentle clinking of glasses, soft lighting across the tables, and a wonderful feeling of being exactly where we were meant to be.
The food left a lasting impression on us. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared using exceptionally fresh Cypriot ingredients and herbs. The natural, unprocessed flavours perfectly complemented the surroundings - simple yet refined, without unnecessary extravagance. The service followed the same philosophy: discreet yet attentive, always delivered with genuine warmth and care.

Dessert was another highlight of an already memorable experience - homemade, delicious, and full of flavour.

What stood out most was the atmosphere of the beautiful courtyard, a true sanctuary within the city. The warm hospitality, calming energy, and charming herb garden create a setting that instantly puts you at ease.

Adding to the experience was the live music, which brought a lovely rhythm to the evening without ever disturbing the peaceful ambience.

The rooms continue the same philosophy: comfortable, cosy, and full of character. Each space feels thoughtfully designed and welcoming, allowing guests to feel connected to the story and history of the house.
With only 13 rooms, Casa Mespilea offers that rare feeling of exclusivity and intimacy. Nothing feels impersonal or standardised; every corner has its own charm and warmth.

Breakfast was equally impressive - fresh, generous, and nutritious, providing the perfect start to the day.

What stayed with us most was not simply a hotel stay or a meal. It was the feeling of having discovered a hidden gem in the heart of Pafos - a place that relaxed us, inspired us, and made us want to return.
Tip: We couldn't help thinking that Casa Mespilea would be the perfect venue for our next reunion party!
