A "secret" spot in Pyla that transports you to another era

We recently visited a bar-restaurant that pleasantly surprised us and exceeded all expectations.

Platia Bar Restaurant, located in the square of Pyla, a village celebrated for the coexistence of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots. This rich cultural diversity is evident in every corner of the village.

The restaurant itself was larger and more stylish than we had imagined, with thoughtful decor and a warm, inviting atmosphere. However, the true highlight was the food – an unforgettable culinary experience!

Atmosphere

The moment we stepped into Platia, we were captivated by its atmosphere. What initially appeared to be a modest space turned out to be much larger than expected once inside.

The modern design, featuring wooden tables and walls adorned with eclectic decorations - ranging from mirrors and beer trays to a vintage jukebox - creates a cosy, inviting vibe. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel at ease and relaxed.

On certain nights, typically Fridays, the restaurant transforms into a live music hot-spot (check out the video here).

What We Tried!

Now for the food! We sampled a variety of dishes, mostly meat-based, and every one of them was excellent.

The Pork Tomahauk Chop was juicy, perfectly cooked, and packed with rich flavour. The Steak Diane, prepared with an authentic old recipe, was a burst of flavours with its creamy sauce - steak lovers will adore it!

The lamb ribs were tender and succulent, while the pork was fragrant and flavourful.

We were impressed by the generous portions, ensuring no one left hungry!

To complement our meal, we enjoyed a selection of refreshing beers from their extensive collection.

As a bonus, Platia also has a pool table, making it a perfect spot for groups to hang out and have fun.

Our time at Platia Bar Restaurant was more than just a great dining experience - it was a full outing with great company, delicious food, and a laid-back atmosphere.
